Frankie receives the award from JohnOn November 10th Swan picked up a “Best in Class Award”  in the Offices category; after being shortlisted for THREE environmental awards (for New build, Operational cost savings in Supported Housing, and Offices)

We won the Offices award for our work to date on:

  • Our Green Team and the actions held within
  • Our engagement of staff during Sustainability Week and other workshops and sessions
  • Our provision of e-learning
  • Our procurement of sustainable office products, and
  • Our monitoring and measuring of environmental impacts via our own carbon scorecard.

The award was given by SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow ) which is the sustainability standard for the housing sector. Provided by Sustainable Homes, recognised by the HCA and backed by Government, it is an independent assessment and accreditation scheme that demonstrates organisations are delivering against challenging environmental targets and covers new build, existing stock, offices, and strategy .

We won the GOLD SHIFT award last year (one of 6 Housing Associations nationally) and we aim to be the first HA to achieve PLATINUM next year.

Swan is committed to the reducing our impact on the environment and we always looking to continually improve and to ensure value for money.

Frankie Bowen (dedicated Green Team member) and Liz Robinson (from Supported Housing) collected the award from John Prescott who delivered a speech and commended those organisations at the event, recognising the challenges that we face currently as a sector. It was a great evening  celebrating the great work being undertaken in the housing sector with respect to the environment and the cost savings associated.
