Improving career prospects for our residents!
The Resident Training Programme has run successfully for eight years and in this time over 90 residents have achieved a basic Food Hygiene certificate, giving them an essential entry-level qualification into the food and catering industry.
After listening to feedback from residents who have already completed this qualification, this year Swan added a certificated Level 3 Food Safety Management course to the Resident Training Programme for residents wishing to further enhance their CV and develop their career in the food and catering industry.
Four residents from London and Essex signed up for the four-day course on Food Safety Management (Level 3).
Brenda has attended courses on the Resident Training Programme for the last three years. The free, certificated training she has received has helped her to follow her dream and build her own catering business. She now owns three burger vans and has recently secured a contract at a building site in Tilbury where she will run an onsite café. Brenda’s Baps burger vans are also attending events such as the Horndon-on-the-Hill festival in Essex!
” I am forever grateful to Swan for the opportunities residents are given!”
Ten residents from London and Essex recently completed an accredited, one-day Health and Safety Course run by Swan’s Health and Safety partner, Swan Safe.
The participants learnt about General Health and Safety, Risk Assessments, Accident Reporting, Policies and Procedures and Online Tools.
This training is useful for everyone, especially those who would like to run events in their community, so please contact the Resident Involvement and Community Development Team on 01277 844242 to let us know if you would be interested in attending this training course next year.
